We wanted a way to provide for our family — and create a future for our special needs son Jack. What began as a side hustle with one rental has grown into 30+ properties, a dedicated team, and a business built on trust, systems, and heart.
Like many families, we started small — listing one property while juggling full-time jobs. We were looking for flexibility and stability, but what we found was something bigger. As guests came and five-star reviews rolled in, we realized we had built something worth sharing. Friends asked for help. Then neighbors. Then out-of-state investors.
Today, Black River Management is a full-service short-term rental operation managing 30+ properties across Michigan. But at its core, it’s still about family — treating every property with the same care we started with, and helping other owners build something meaningful too.

Our Founders
Founded in 2021 Nicole & Daniel Hauer, what began as a family-led mission to build future security has grown into on of Michigans most trusted furnished rental management companies.
Nicole brings years of boots-on-the-ground hospitality and operational management to the business. She oversees everything from property setup to cleaner coordination and owner communication. Her attention to detail ensures each stay meets our five-star standard.
Daniel has a background in real estate, finance, and marketing — and focuses on growth strategy, systems, and creating long-term value for owners. Together, they’ve built a company that blends personalized service with scalable results.
