Our story

It started with our son. It grew because we cared.

Black River was not built in a boardroom. It started at our kitchen table, and it grew one five-star stay at a time.

Black River began as a way for our family to earn dependable income to help care for our son, Jack, who is disabled. We turned one furnished property into something steady and real, and we ran it with everything we had. When the stakes are personal, you do not cut corners.

We treated that first property like it was ours, because it was. And because what it paid for mattered more than money.

Guests noticed the difference. The reviews came in five stars, and then they kept coming. Owners we knew started asking the same question: how are you doing this? Could you do it for mine?

We said yes. And we kept saying yes. The family side-project quietly became a real company.

Today, Black River Management manages more than 30 properties across Michigan. We have grown, but the thing that started it never changed. Every property we take on gets the same attention that first one got. The one that takes care of Jack.
